Sublime Text 4 looks great out of the box but everyone I know, including myself, loves to customize their editor to their own personal coding needs. These packages are as easy to install and setup as VS Code and Atom as well. You can, if you need to extend it’s functionality install a package using Package Control with most of the packages being MIT licensed. Sublime just lets you focus on the Code and doesn’t include all the stuff you don’t need.

You may still be asking, “why pay if you can get VS Code for free or use Atom for free?” Those are great editors but I find they are slow in comparison and all the bells and whistles that VS Code offers really don’t enhance the coding experience, for me the stuff is overload and slows me down. Since I use my code editor every day and you can earn a lot of money in web or software development I feel it’s a fairly nominal cost, especially since the license is per user, not per device (meaning you can use it on all your devices under one license). You’ll have to pay for a license if you use it for an extended period of time but it’s current (at the time of this writing) $99 license gives you three years of updates and allows you to use the latest version of the editor within that three year period without upgrading your license. On of the best code editors is Sublime Text.
